This Belmonte was a long service award from Imperial Chemical Industries, or ICI as we knew it more.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the inscription on the case back to Harold Hambleton for twenty years service, we can accurately date this watch to being gifted to him in 1948.

CONDITION

ICI were one of the largest employers in Great Britain, so their long service watches do come up quite often.  But most are by Garrard, and we have not seen another Belmonte before.  The style of the watch definitely is inspired by the military watches used at the beginning of WW2, but this doesn’t have fixed bars so you have a wider choice of straps available to you.  The seventeen jewel, manual wind movement is ticking away nicely.  The dial is all original, as are the radium filled hands, and in great cosmetic condition for the age of the watch.  The nylon strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
