This post war Majex is a classic gold watch, which has stood the test of time well.  Men’s watch with manual wind movement.

From the Edinburgh hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1946.

Manual wind and with three hands, and a solid gold case.  It is a simple recipe for a classic dress watch and this Majex fits the bill.  The movement is partly decorated, not that you will see it as it is housed in a two part 9k gold case made by BWC.  Majex would have imported the movement and dial for the watch to be cased in the UK, thus legally avoiding the punitive tax on completed gold watches that the UK government had in place post war.  The movement looks to be an ETA one, but be have not been able to determine exactly which one.  We do know it has 15 jewels and is running nicely.  The dial is clean and has lume on the numerals that is not registering with our giegercounter.  The minute hand has lost all the lume and the hour hand the lume is stained but still there.  The case has fixed lugs, which are straight and strong.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
