A late trench watch, this gold watch has a Dennison hallmarked case and a sterile dial.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in Birmingham during 1944.
CONDITION
Trench watch is a term to describe the early wristwatches used during the first world war, and this would be one of the later designs of the same type we have found. The case has fixed bars, as do military watches today, so if worn with a one piece strap if one lug or spring bar snapped the watch would still be secure. The sterile dial, without any writing other than Swiss Made under the subdial, is quite clean bit does has a hairline crack if examined closely. The blued hands are straight. The movement maker isn’t visible from the rear, and these were often stamped on the dial side. We suspect it was either AS or ETA looking at the design (and we know it would be Swiss, otherwise the dial would not be marked Swiss made). It is running well regardless of who made it. The 0.375 or 9k gold case is made by notable case makers Dennison, and the numbers match on the case back and centre section. You can read more on Dennison here on the company website. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
