This Universal Geneve men’s vintage tank watch is a stylish thing to add to anyone’s watch collection.  Model reference 28509.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1943.

CONDITION

Universal Geneve had its high point in the 1930’s and 40’s, where models such as the Tri Compax launched.  This is a more conservative watch, but isn’t the many thousands needed to buy and maintain the Compax models either.  The inside of the case back is stamped Enversteel, which was Universal Geneve’s stainless steel alloy.  It is unusual for watches made during the height of World War 2 to use this quality of metal, as most was saved for the war effort.  The art Deco inspired case is in very good order, and has high riders at the lugs to help protect the acrylic glass.  The dial does have patina, as shown in the photos, but is all original.  The movement is a nicely finished Universal 240, a 15 jewel manual wind movement that is still keeping great time.  The leather strap is new.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
