This WW2 period gold Precista watch is quite a find.  any WW2 watch is normally military inspired, but by having a solid gold case this clearly isn’t.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We can date this to 1943 from the Chester hallmark on the watch case.  Watches made during the war are quite rare, as the metal was required elsewhere.

CONDITION

Remarkably good considering the age.  Both the front and back screw off, which we haven’t seen before but would make servicing very easy!  The case back does have a dent that a jeweller may be able to pop out if need be.  The crown may be a later replacement, but there is not much reference material for these watches so we can’t be certain.  We will fit a new strap for the buyer in either brown or black leather.

SIZE

Approximately 31.8 mm wide including the crown, 9.9 mm thick. Takes a 16 mm strap.
