A nice rose gold filled tank Elgin watch, from Illinois, with a manual wind movement.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1943.

CONDITION

The case on this watch is straight, and is 10k rose gold filled.  Gold filled cases are far thicker than gold plate, hence so little rubbing is evident.  The matt copper dial is a bit dirty, but original, and all the applied markers for each hour are present and correct.  The Elgin 557 15 jewel hand winding movement has recently been oiled and is running nicely for such an old watch.  The crystal has been replaced so is perfect.  The leather strap is new too, and this watch has regular spring bars making strap changing both easier and you will have more choice.  The watch is small compared to modern watches, but that does mean it can suit both men and women.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
