This Waltham is similar to appearance to the watches issued to the US Ordinance department, but this one was to stay with the civilians.

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1942.

This watch shares the case and dial design of the watches issued to the US Army, but there are differences.  This has cathedral hands, drilled lugs and a 9j movement whereas the military model had straight hands, fixed bars and a 17j movement.  The look is still clearly military, from the base metal case to the oversized crown (to make it easier to wind with gloves on).  The watch arrived on what we believe to be the original bund leather strap, which is too fragile to use but we will include in the sale.  The watch has just been serviced and is keeping good time.  The dial in in very good condition, and the acrylic crystal and leather strap are new.

This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
