A WW2 era Eros watch complete with box and papers from prestigious London jewellers Winegarten’s Ltd.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork we can accurately date this watch to being sold on the 2nd of March, 1942.
CONDITION
Named after the Greek God of Love and Desire, this Eros watch is remarkable in still having the tortoise shell effect cardboard box and matching guarantee from Winegarten’s of London. These are collectible in their own right. The dial does have some damage (it is over 70 years old remember!) but the hand wound movement is still keeping reasonable time. The chromed bracelet is a little worn, but this could be replaced. We have kept it on the watch for originality.
Finding watches from the second world war designed for civilians is very difficult, as much of the metal and the skills went towards the war effort.
