A rarer round dialed 1935 Waltham, when so many were in Art Deco inspired rectangular cases. Finished in 10k rolled gold and running well.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1935.
CONDITION
This is a sweet little watch – standard of the time, but small by today’s standards for a men’s watch which is what it was designed as. However this means it would suit a lady now who likes vintage, but finds the 20mm cocktail watches just too small to be practical. The case is rolled gold, which is a lot thinker than gold plated but without the expensive of solid gold. It was a technique the American makers perfected and used a lot. Inside is a calibre 879 in house Waltham movement that is nicely decorated on the bridges. Everything works as it should, and the blued Breguet hands look good. The dial does have patina evenly spread across is, and the hour markers are gilt – there is no radium on this dial, and there never has been. The leather strap is new, and while we have offered this watch before all the photos and videos are fresh since we bought the watch back, as is the strap.
A watch like this 1935 Waltham in good order is not easy to find.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
