This 1924 men’s Rotary watch has no brand name on the dial, but the movement and case are both clearly marked.  Great condition!

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the import hall mark on the inside of the case back we can date this watch to being assayed in 1924.  It could have been earlier of course before it imported to Glasgow.

CONDITION

Find a better one!  The dial is superb, as are the blued Breguet hands.  It is so good that is is suspiciously good – could it be a repainted dial?  We have checked out the Rotary Museum, and this is nicer than the examples they have in their own corporate video.  Without more references it is impossible to say, but as the case is good and the movement showing little wear it could be original.  That case is made from 9k gold, and stamped with the makers mark SD for Sylvain Dreyfuss – Sylvain and his brother Georges founded Rotary in 1895.  The movement is also marked with the winged wheel logo of Rotary, so while we can not identify the exact movement calibre we know it is.  The gold case has chevron or wheatsheaf engraving down each side and shuts well, as the case is double hinged to allow access to the movement.  The movement is running very well for over 24 hours per wind, which is exceptional for a watch of this age.  The strap is lightly used but better quality than some modern fixed lug straps so will be staying on the watch.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
