A WW1 era Waltham Traveller open pocket watch, but this one does not look like it ever saw action. Model reference 1908
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1917.
CONDITION
The case, made by Keystone, is in good condition with one exception. The inner dustcover is crudely engraved with initials, and is also completely detached from the outer case. For most people this is not an issue, as the dust cover does the same job of keeping the movement clean and is not visible from the outside at all. It could easily be discarded if you wanted, but we like to keep as much original as possible and it still gives some protection. Underneath that is a decorated Waltham 7 jewel movement, all working well, with nice quality finishing and blued screws. The dial is often the weak spot on pocket watches, often showing scratches and cracks, but this is very clean and showing no damage. The hands look to be original too. The case has the smallest dents, but the plating has not worn through – even on high wear points like the onion crown.
