c1980 Sekonda day date 26j men’s watch

An USSR Sekonda manual wind watch, with thumbnail quickset adjustment for the date built into the case.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the production dates of the Slava 2428 movement, we can date this watch to being made circa 1980.

CONDITION

When anyone on a budget says they can not afford vintage watches we laugh.  Of course you can’t get Rolex watches on a small budget, but at under £50 we would suggest people look at Soviet era Russian watches.  Built to last, with strong mechanical engineering that have nothing to do with modern Sekonda watches.

This 26 jewel manual wind watch has a slot at 2 for a sunken pusher to quick set the date (you set the day via the crown).  This is working well, as is the timekeeping on this watch.  The dial is clean apart from some hardly noticeable spots between 12 and 1.  The glass has been polished but does have small marks around the edge, including a very small crack at 47.  This can be changed for an additional £10, but we wanted to keep the price as low as possible for those collectors who may want to do this simple job themselves.  The plated case has signs of wear, as to be expected, but nothing severe.
