This Sekonda Autodate de luxe was the top of the range model, with some examples even available in 14k gold (rare for a communist era watch)

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the styling and the production dates of the 2416 movement we think this watch was produced circa 1977

CONDITION

The watch has cleaned up well.  We replaced the crystal, added a new strap (but kept the original unsigned buckle) and cleaned the case in our ultrasonic bath.  This watch was on what we believe was the original strap, but it was so badly worn that it had to be thrown away.  The case is clean, with slight plate loss that looks far worse in the enlarged photos than in real life.  The automatic movement is working well, which is typical of this era of USSR watch that were built to last.  The sunburst brushed dial is very clean, and we didn’t need to do anything to the dial as it was this clean when we got it.

SIZE

36.2 mm wide including the unsigned crown, 10.6 mm thick.  Takes an 18mm strap.
