c1974 Girard Perregaux quartz dress watch

A difficult to find Girard Perregaux dress watch in very good order, with a replacement quartz Swiss movement.

Girard Perregaux were a pioneer in quartz technology, and introduced their 350 calibre quartz watch in 1971.  In this watch was originally the 641 calibre movement, for which we are still trying to get production dates, but as we know the 705 came out with the Laureato model in 1975 we believe this watch was made circa 1974.  The technology in the 641 looks to be half way between the 350/353 calibre and the 705, and you can read more about this here.

The gold plated case is in very good order, the dial near perfect and the glass is scratch free.  Inside, the original GP641 has been replaced with a modern Swiss quartz movement, which is a shame but as no spares are available for the 641 we can understand.  It also explains the price, which is a lot less than you would pay for one with the original movement (if it was still working).  The second hand hits the markers nicely, and the person who fitted the new movement also saved the GP signed crown.  The watch wears bigger than the dimensions suggest, as the bezel is thin so the dial takes up a lot of wrist space.  It is fitted with a lightly worn lizard strap.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
