c1968 Girard Perregaux manual wind dress watch

A nice condition Girard Perregaux men’s mechancial watch that is still affordable is a rare thing, and getting rarer.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The GP25 series movement was based on the AS 1525, which was phased out towards the end of the 1960’s.  Girard Perregaux changed their logo around the same time to the logo on this watch, so 1968 will not be far out, as there was unlikely to be a lot of overlap.

CONDITION

This time only watch presents very nicely.  The 20 micron gold plated case is in good order, and retains the original signed crown.  The crystal is a little crazed, but perfectly usable.  The movement winds and sets well, keeping good time.  The leather strap is new.  But the nicest thing is the dial and hands.  The dial, featuring the later logo, has just the smallest of marks visible in the highly enlarged photographs.  The hands, with the black centre pinstripe, look good.  And all the applied hour markers are original and in great shape.  This is a nice chance to get a  slim mechanical watch from one of the oldest houses in Switzerland, before the prices rise. (although we have found the same model, but in stainless steel with a blue dial, available for £1281)

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
