HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1976.
CONDITION
LED watches were the cutting edge technology of the 1970’s, and their high peak was 1976. By 1977 LCD started taking over, as the technology was cheaper and the batteries lasted longer, but LED was still the best way to see the time at night. This is a difficult watch to photograph, requiring timing to catch the LED’s in action. You press the button on the top right once to see the time, twice to see the date and it switches off after about 1 second, hence most of the photos do not show the LEDs working. The actual condition is wonderful, with just a few scratches on the stainless steel screw down case back and one on the front bottom left corner. None of the gold plate is worn through and it is a good, chunky size on the wrist. The pusher to adjust the time or date is located on the side of the case where three would be on an analogue dial.
The movement requires two readily available 386/SR43SW batteries and we will fit new ones before the watch is sent out of course.
