1973 Seiko LM Lord Matic 5605-5110 men’s vintage watch

This 1973 Seiko is from their LM Lord Matic range, which sat between the standard watches and the top line King Seiko

From the serial number on the caseback we can accurately date this watch to November 1973.

This big chunk of 1970’s is in good order.  This Seiko movement does have one flaw, and that is if the date is changed near midnight via the quickset crown, then the quickset mechanism breaks.  In the worst case the date doesn’t change at all.  In this case the date can be adjusted via the crown, and it turns over at midnight, but the quickset day date feature doesn’t work.  The bracelet is better than most Seiko ones, being machined from solid stainless steel rather than the cheaper folded bracelets.  Thankfully it is a decent size.  The dial has been restored – the writing for 21 jewels looks a little fuzzy, and this hacking and auto or manual wind movement should have 23 jewels.  To some people that won’t matter, to others it is a deal breaker.  We have priced it take account of the restored dial and the quickset date fault.  There will be collectors that would pay this for the strap alone, so if you want to try a LordMatic on a budget then this could be the watch for you.

35.6mm wide including the crown, 11.5mm thick.  The bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of approximately 180mm.
