HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the hall mark on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in London in 1973.

CONDITION

This is the first time we have seen a Tissot movement in anything other than a Tissot or an Omega – in fact this calibre 1481 movement is identical to the Omega 2481.  This choice would not have the been the cheapest for Excalibur to make when specifying this watch, so they were clearly going for quality.  The same sense of thought process was applied to the bracelet, which is rolled gold so doesn’t show as much wear like gold plate can (rolled gold must be at least 5% gold by weight, so is much thicker than plate).  The clasp has some wear right on the leading edge only, and also has a ratchet feature to get a good fit every time.  The movement is working well, including the quickset date which is activated by pushing the crown inwards.  The crown does have some pitting.  The dial is very clean and the acrylic glass just has minor scratches around the edge.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
