This 1970 Omega Geneve has the calibre 565 auto movement, with swan neck adjustment.  It has also been fitted with a later, genuine Omega bracelet.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the highly prized Cal. 565 movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1970.

CONDITION

This watch, model code 166.070, would have originally been delivered on a leather strap according to Omega’s own website.  However someone has spent a not small amount of money by adding a genuine 1098 Omega bracelet.  Judging by the condition of the bracelet this was done not that long ago, as it hardly shows a mark.  If you would prefer a leather strap then this can be done easily.  The textured dial, which isn’t easy to photograph, is clean and the Omega hesalite crystal is correct for the watch (see the x43 microscopic photo of the logo).  The crown looks original too, although the gold plate is worn on this.  sadly, many of this 24 jewel movements are robbed from the original watches to be added to builds of Seamaster 300 models, most that use various amounts of used parts to make a frankenwatch.  It is great to find a Geneve with this movement.
