CONDITION

Accurist watches of the 1950’s and 60’s are better than most people expect.  They stood out at the time for having good mechanical movements at an affordable price, but since the late 1970’s the company seemed to chase volume over quality, and they have done very well on that strategy too.  But, given the choice of having an older or modern Accurist, we’ll take the older one.  This example has a thin Peseux 320 movement, nicely finished with 21 jewels and stamped for Accurist on the bridge.  Accurist usually had 21 jewel movements, when the competition usually had 15 or 17.  The square case is 20 micron gold plated, where 10 or less might be normal.  For the first owner it is probably that none of these factors mattered, but as time goes on they help the watch run and look cosmetically good.  The dial does have some marks, most noticeably at 11, but better this than a repainted dial.  The acrylic glass has been polished, the dark brown leather strap is new and could be swapped for a black one if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, stamped guarantee papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
