This Tissot 9kt gold watch has never been inscribed. The movement was made in 1956, the case in 1957.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We can date this in two ways. The Dennison solid gold case has hallmarks from Birmingham 1956, and the movement has a Tissot serial number that dates to early 1957. Lots of watchmakers would send movements to the UK to be cased locally to avoid excessive import duties on complete watches, and Dennison was one of the top case makers in this period.
CONDITION
The thick gold case does not look polished, and the case back has never been inscribed. Like all Tissot’s of this period the movement is wonderful, but it is the dial that really shines. The champagne background is excellent and the applied gold markers all in place. Fitted with a new leather strap and a new, slightly larger crown to make winding easier.
