HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork we can accurately date this watch to 27/11/1939. Maybe this watch was bought by someone about to go to war as part of the British Expeditionary Force? Did it and it’s owner survive Dunkirk? More about the BEF here. We can establish that there was a Captain J.M.S. Blair in the Highland Light Infantry in 1939, but we are currently unable to confirm if this is the original owner of this watch. Any information would be gratefully received. Contact us
This watch will undergo some restoration, and the photos are taken with only the crystal replaced. The dial is in good shape and original, as are the hands. The case will have a light clean and the movement will be serviced. We would normally wait until this work is done before listing a watch, but in this case we would love to hear any additional history while it is away for mechanical restoration.
